A diving competition was conducted in the enormous Polar Land pool in the Chinese city of Harbin. It is also home to beluga whales.
The contestants’ aim was to plunge to the bottom of a six-meter cold Arctic pool without breathing equipment and stay there as long as possible.
Yella was a competitor. When the twenty-six-year-old female was going to climb to the summit, she realized she was virtually immobilized. The cold had rendered her arms and legs completely numb.

Yella recalls how, as she began swallowing water and falling lower and lower, she felt someone trying to push her up. Male, a beluga, lived in this pool. Beluga noticed something was wrong with the girl and came to her aid.
Male carefully pushed the tiny girl out of the water with her nose. Yang’s legs were delicately taken into the animal’s mouth, and the girl was rolled over before being pushed out of the water.

Surprisingly, the whale knew the girl was drowning before anyone else did. Belugas are incredibly gregarious animals that are fascinated by humans. They try to communicate with humans by swimming up to the aquarium’s glass.

Belugas frequently attempt to spit at individuals wearing goggles or sneakers. Scientists do not fully comprehend why they do this. One theory is that the whale is attempting to blow the dust off humans, similar to how they blow sand from crustaceans on the seafloor.
Male, according to her trainer, is an extremely intelligent animal who enjoys connecting with people.

Beluga whales were among the first cetaceans to interact with humans. The most astounding feature about the beluga is that it can grin due to the unique anatomy of its facial muscles.
