After spending many days at the bottom of a chasm, Liza is now reunited with her family. A team of rescuers from various specialist teams worked together to save this 12-year-old dog.
After being imprisoned in a small rock crevice for five exhausting days, a senior dog discovered the surface and her owners, according to People.
On Thursday, October 7, 2021, while on a trip with its owner in the state of New York’s Minnewaska Natural Park, the 12-year-old animal in question, named Liza, slipped into a chasm.
Despite their best efforts, Liza’s master and park employees were unable to reach her due to the cavity’s limited size. Over the next few days, other attempts were made, but they were unsuccessful. Then, on Tuesday, October 12, two additional teams arrived on the spot to assist with the operation.
They are specialists from New Jersey who specialize in cave rescues; they are volunteers from Ulster County who also play a key role in these risky operations. Despite the fall, loneliness, and hunger, the female dog is unharmed.
Rescuers were able to view the dog because to the plumbing camera that was put into the fissure to investigate the pipes. In order to get to Liza’s apartment, Jessica Van Ord, the tallest member of the NJIRT, had to squeeze through a small vertical crack that led to a smaller horizontal fissure. She was able to realize that she wasn’t hurt as a result.
