American Samantha Orr and her mother were traveling to the Colorado Rocky Mountains in a car in 2018.A large boulder suddenly fell onto the road in front of the car.Jennifer, Samantha’s mother, attempted to circumvent it, but the vehicle crashed into the cliff.
Samantha, then 21 years old, recalls, « We were just driving, talking, and the next thing we knew we were falling. »
The girl’s mother passed away.Samantha suffered severe injuries.Bentley, a one-year-old Goldendoodle, was also with them in the car.
During the accident, Samantha saw the dog fly out of the vehicle.The girl was then taken to the hospital, but the dog went unnoticed.
By creating a social media page titled « Bring Bentley Home, » Samantha made the decision to locate Bentley.She wrote, « We know he’s still out there somewhere and he’s afraid of everything » two weeks later.
An online advertisement led Joseph Strattman, a man from northern Colorado, to the search for Bentley.In order to assist in the animal’s search, he traveled across the state for several hours.The man found Bentley first and provided Bentley with food.
Joseph and Samantha saw each other 19 days after the incident.They went to the mountains to the spot where Bentley was seen with a group of volunteers. « Just what I needed at the time, Joe led me up the mountain, keeping me calm and optimistic.Samantha recollects, « He assisted me up the steep slopes. »
Samantha and Joseph finally caught sight of Bentley in the distance.The dog was hesitant to approach people at first.He didn’t even want food or a new toy. They eventually managed to call Bentley’s owner. Despite being exhausted and dehydrated, the dog did not sustain any serious injuries.Together, the girl and the dog returned to their Kansas residence.There, Bentley met Buena, a puppy.The buddies are now always together.
