Megyn Scott-Hintz, a Texas resident, decided to adopt a tiny, ill kitten she found on the street a few weeks ago. Megyn recalls, « He was thin, hungry, with bad ears and a lot of fleas. »
Megyn gave the kitten the name Garfield because it was having a hard time adjusting to its new surroundings and felt very ill. Fortunately, however, the kitten soon had a younger brother named Pickles, who began assisting him in all matters.
Megyn’s elderly neighbor Pickles lived with her for a long time, but he mostly went outside and only came inside for food and some rest. But everything changed when he saw Garfield:The shy, semi-wild cat quickly developed compassion and empathy. Pickles began to take care of his younger brother, playing with him, cleaning, protecting him, and even sleeping with him.
Garfield had to be taken to a veterinary hospital for a while because he had more health issues than his new owner had anticipated. When the kitten got home, Pickles was overjoyed because he was greatly missed. « Pickles began to care for Garfield even more actively as soon as he returned.He would hiss and bite me if I tried to take the kitten away, as if to say, « Don’t touch the baby!Abandon him.Megyn said, « I know what to do. »
Little Garfield is currently recovering gradually and enjoys spending time with his older brother, who is now less likely to vanish from the street.
Megyn believes that Pickles will become more at ease and outgoing as a result of their friendship.
